American (English) remake of the French series HPI (2021)
Plot
Follows Morgan, a single mom of three kids and how thanks to her exceptional mind, she is able to help to solve a crime as she rearranges evidence during her shift as a cleaner for the police department.. Despite her very high IQ, excellent memory, and extensive knowledge of the arcane, Morgan makes a series of basic mistakes of law that anyone who has ever watched a TV law show would know not to make. In Episode one, for instance, she obtains a document from a locked safe in a law office of the suspect-victim that would never be admissible in court–illegally obtained evidence.

It also could not be used to obtain other evidence–violation of the legal doctrine of "fruit of the poisonous tree." In Episode 2, she has to be reminded to wear gloves before handling evidence at a crime scene, and in #3, she removes all the documented evidence from the police station, totally breaking the chain of custody and making everything she removed also no longer admissible in a court of law.. This series revolves around Morgan (Kaitlin Olson), a woman who is the night janitor at LAPD. When she happens to look at a case file, it intrigues her, and she makes some corrections on a murder board.
Like Will, she has an exceptional IQ and an insightful mind
This leads to the realization by the department that she has a talent for perceiving, assimilating and organizing facts, aka evidence. They hire her as a consultant.Consider her Will Hunting meets Adrian Monk. Like Monk, she is bothered by OCD, although not as neurotically as Monk.
She is also very assertive
But she feels that she must reconcile any data that is contradictory (like an itch that needs scratching). And though Morgan sometimes feels on the outside of society, she is very empathetic.I really enjoy this series, though there have been plenty of other police procedurals that have a civilian with unusual talents working with cops. The character of Morgan is fun to watch.
The kids are also interesting
And the cases feature interesting solutions.She also has three children, so she must always balance her work and home lives. In the first episode, her young son actually helps with her case, behind the scenes.
